Compass India Inc. was founded in August 2000 by DURJAY SENGUPTA and started with a writing desk, a computer and a printer at home. He wanted to help individual and independent travelers see India in an unobtrusive and leisurely way for the right price.
A little more than 6 years later it is a 5 million dollar company employing 25 young professionals and supporting households and the industry diligently. We still handle independent tours and I still design and help my consultants plan holidays for my valued guests. Travelers using our services still go back happy and 35 % of our business is repeat and referral which makes us work even harder. |

ASTA - American Society of Travel Agents is the world’s largest association of travel professionals. ASTA members continue to thrive as more and more travelers see the benefits of consulting an expert staying focused on the need of travelers when making travel arrangements. ASTA’s mission is to facilitate the business of selling travel through effective presentation, shared knowledge and the enhancement of professionalism. Not adhering to the rules of handling travelers as outlined in the ASTA trade practices would entitle the Association to de-list any member. Compass India Inc. is constantly achieving new heights with improved service standards post receiving an affiliation from ASTA since 2001.
AFTA – Australian Federation of Travel Agents was founded in 1957 to establish a Code of Ethics for Travel Agents; to stimulate, encourage and promote travel; and to establish a close working relationship between suppliers, agents and travelling public. AFTA members are committed to the advancement through effective liaison with government and other industry bodies, and through the encouragement of continuing professional development and standards. AFTA members are trained to provide exceptional standards of service to the traveling guest. All AFTA members pledge themselves to conduct their business activities in a manner that promotes the ideal of integrity in travel and agree to act in accordance with the Principles of the AFTA Code of Ethics. Compass India Inc. was accredited by AFTA in June 2008. 
JATA – An association sanctioned by Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and based on the Travel Agency Law, the Japan Association of Travel Agents seeks to improve the quality of services provided to travelers to and from Japan. It contributes to the development of the travel and tourism industry through a variety of activities including disseminating information, encouraging cooperation among members, and promoting the development of business and legislation that will benefit the traveler, membership and industry at large. JATA participates in the worldwide organizations such as WTO (World Tourism Organization), PATA (Pacific - Asia Travel Association) and ASTA (American Society of Travel Agents). Compass India Inc. has been affiliated since January 2005. 
ACTA - Established in 1977, the Association of Canadian Travel Agencies (ACTA), is a national trade association representing the retail travel sector of Canada's tourism industry. ACTA is an industry-led, non profit, membership based organization. ACTA proudly represents and defends the interests of the retail travel services industry, a vibrant and sustainable sector well equipped to thrive during major economic cycles and to face the challenges of a constantly evolving travel industry. ACTA’s mission is to serve as the focal point for the retail travel services industry, where ideas and resources are pooled into initiatives designed to create and maintain a healthy business and legislative environment in which the retail travel industry will thrive. ACTA also keep an emphasis to enhance the degree of professionalism within the industry. Compass India Inc. was accredited by ACTA in July 2009.
IATO – The Indian Association of Tour Operators is the national apex body of tourism industry. The Association welcomed Compass India Inc. as an ALLIED member in August 2007. Established in 1982, IATO today has international acceptance & linkages and is increasing its international networking with professional bodies for better facilitation to the international traveler visiting not only India but the entire region. All IATO members observe highest standards of professional ethics and offer personalized services to their guests. At the time of memberships Executive Committee closely examines each application, based on very elaborate and clear guidelines to ensure only reputed, experienced and honorable establishments are inducted into the members fold.
ADTOI – Association of Domestic tour Operators of India preferred Compass India Inc. to be the part of the body on active grounds soon after we stepped into the industry and the Company is enjoying the membership since July 2002. ADTOI is a National Body of Domestic Tour Operators, constituted on August 7, 1996 with the express purpose of consolidating the efforts of all those tour operators who are actively engaged in the promotion of “Domestic Tourism” in the country. ADTOI members work to ensure delivery of professional service to the guest, through its principal suppliers which are primarily the accommodation facilities, as also travel intermediaries e.g. airlines, transporters, railways and guides.
